LOCAL PARTNERSHIPS

Indigenous Business Partnerships

In 2021, we were proud to announce a significant business partnership with Łı́ı́dlı̨ı̨ Kų́ę́ First Nation in Fort Simpson, where we will be offering canoe rentals.

This marks the first-ever joint venture between an indigenous government and a paddling company in the Northwest Territories.

In 2023 we are excited to launch a new canoe expedition to Red Cliff Island in the East Arm of Great Slave Lake. This is a partnership with indigenous-owned Frontier Lodge & Lutsel K’e Dene First Nation guide Ron Desgarlais.

Supporting Indigenous Youth

Over the last 8 years, we are proud to have offered canoe safety training & youth canoe trips with the following organizations:

• Dehcho First Nations (canoe safety training & canoe trip from Fort Simpson to Wrigley)
• Łutsel K’e Dene First Nations (youth canoe and kayak safety training
• Łı́ı́dlı̨ı̨ Kų́ę́ First Nation (annual training & trips for youth since 2020)
  Délı̨nę Got’ı̨nę Government (training in support of community led canoe trips)
• Kátł’odeeche Fırst Natıon (training & youth canoe trip on the Kátł’odeh – Hay River)

The Ayalik Fund

The Ayalik Fund gives Inuit youth who would otherwise not have such opportunities a chance to build self-esteem and confidence through challenging outdoor adventures.

Starting in the summer of 2020, we have partnered with the Ayalik Fund to offer Inuit youth, boys and girls 14-15, the opportunity to participate in two-week canoe expeditions.

We are excited to continue to work with the Ayalik Fund and share wilderness trips with under-privileged youth from across Nunavut.

Northern Guide Training Program

We are committed to training more northerners for work opportunities in the outdoor adventure industry.

In 2018 we founded a practical, hands-on program to rigorously challenge participants to build skills & experience.

Built by our northern guides – it’s the most comprehensive guide training program in the North.
